Toddington’s 5th Bus Rally Sunday 22nd July 2012
article by: webmaster
Building on the success of the previous bus rallies our event
this year will be a bit different, as there is no parallel 2-day
Diesel Gala, and as it is our 5th year of operation we
will be trying to make it that bit more memorable. We have a couple
of ideas in the pipeline but nothing has been firmed up as yet.
The event will still only be the one
day and I am anticipating that it will follow the
same format as last year as the line may not be repaired in time
for us to run a full service from Laverton, north of Toddington
right down to Cheltenham, but we will again endeavour to provide a
'Rail Replacement Bus Service' between the two sites of Winchcombe
and Toddington. This will enable both the drivers and 'crew' of the
display buses to travel the full length of the line sampling both
the diesel rail-car at Toddington and Steam Operations on the
southern part of the line Winchcombe to Cheltenham which will add a
bit more and be a slightly different interest. The 'Rail
Replacement Bus Service' will be timed so that should any people
wish to access our services from Cheltenham via public transport,
walking from the P&R or parking at the station they will
be able to - a bus timetable will be published once the 'through
route' timings are known. We will also be running the half-hourly
shuttle to Broadway as we have done over the last 3-4 years.
Note for potential stall holders - the main Bus
Rally event will only be on the Sunday but you are
welcome to attend on two days if you so wish, but there will be
only the 'standard service' running at Toddington of the diesel
rail car, and there may be a single bus/coach shuttle service
between Toddington & Winchcombe.
