Work at Gotherington has progressed well once the worst of the wet and icy weather passed and Walsh's are back on programme having made up time.  The bottom ballast is in the process of being delivered and laid out onto the main repair areas 1-5.

The final phase of repairs are now underway, the excavation and new compacted foundation and fill of section 6, which will take several weeks to effect.  When this is section is sufficiently advanced Walsh's will be able to start running out the bottom ballast and then to allow access for GWR's P-Way team to commence track laying and top ballast placement across the whole embankment.

We are getting there, thanks to your help and contributions.

As an addendum to the information here, the pictures were taken on 01/02/11.
The bottom ballast was completed by the 04/02/11, to -5mm below sleeper level, the Pway team now await clearance to proceed.

7 panels of the running line require replacement (approx 1 to 2 days work), then ballasting, tamping etc. This will connect us to CRC, the loop of 17 panels will then require replacement.

Bear in mind that we still have the area 6 to be dug out and the bottom ballast that Nigel rightly updated on is for sections 1-5 only at present.

The date for running to Cheltenham remains the same as previously published and not for the very start of the running season.

P-Way are already checking and fettling the running line back to Cheltenham after a long period of not being used. Having the loop completed will allow for engineering trains to access the CRC section before service trains can run again.

How is this work being funded, when we haven't raised the full amount? Are we being given credit, or is there a loan involved?
