Work at Gotherington has progressed well once the worst of the
wet and icy weather passed and Walsh's are back on programme having
made up time. The bottom ballast is in the process of being
delivered and laid out onto the main repair areas 1-5.
The final phase of repairs are now underway, the excavation and
new compacted foundation and fill of section 6, which will take
several weeks to effect. When this is section is sufficiently
advanced Walsh's will be able to start running out the bottom
ballast and then to allow access for GWR's P-Way team to commence
track laying and top ballast placement across the whole
embankment.
