At the last GWSR board meeting towards the end of May, properties director Darren Fairley ran through what has so far been established concerning the landslip – its cause, repairs that have been carried out over past decades and what happens next in the programme to rebuild the failed embankment.

While GWR175 was an action-packed occasion with a dozen Swindon locomotives at the party, there was one guest that didn’t quite make it. But 100 miles from Toddington, the missing locomotive was enjoying its own quiet moment of glory.
