The BBC-1
Land Girls starring locomotive no. 5542 - back from its
visit to the Chinnor & Princess Risborough Railway - will be
putting in an appearance over coming days. And it is in
period costume!
Indeed, the railway has very much a 'Great Western' theme with
plenty of polished copper and brass in evidence. 5542 is
working this coming Thursday to the Blue Timetable. Remember
that trains to this timetable stop by request at Gotherington Halt
so if it's fine, take your local OS map and go for a walk - there
are some splended footpaths locally, some offering magnificent
views of the railway. The last return service from Toddington
will be in the charge of class 37 diesel 37324.
Over the Red timetable weekend of 12th and 13th September,
5542 and 7903 Foremarke Hall will both be in action, while
7903 will be working again on Thursday 17th September,
with class 37 diesel no. 37215 handling the final service of the
day.
On Friday 18th September, Foremarke Hall will be giving
six lucky people the
Steam Locomotive Footplate experience of a lifetime!
Over the following weekend, 19th and 20th September, 7903 and
5619 (fresh from its visit to the Bodmin & Wenford Railway)
will be working, and on Sunday, 5542 will the third engine in steam
as Foremarke Hall takes the Elegant Excursions dining
train. Sunday 20th is being billed as 'Land Girls' day so
turn up in 1940s period costume, if you dare!
There will be no public services on the railway on 8th, 9th,
11th, 14-16th or 19th September.
Please note, all locomotives subject to availability.
