A hot summer's day; the sound of steam hauled trains; a car park
full of cars from the fifties and sixties. A couple of
Bristol Greyhound coaches - it could be the scene at any busy
country railway station during the last years of steam on British
Railways.
But this is the 21st century and nostalgia is very
much alive and well. The cars and commercial vehicles were
there for the latest Transport Nostalgia Day while the two Bristol
coaches, which dated from 1965 and 1966, had brought a party from
the Wells Railway Fraternity, whose headboard was carried by David
Shepherd's 9F, no. 92203 Black Prince.
Richard and Hilary Summers who took a day off from running On
Train Catering showed their lovely yellow Volvo 1800 - and dressed
the part - took these pictures (although a friend took the picture
of them, of course!)
More Transport Nostalgia Days are planned - if you would like to
bring your car, then contact the event organiser Jim Clarke by clicking here and let him
know. Other classic vehicle events are:
- 12th July - Diesels on road and rail - Bus Rally (in
conjunction with the Diesel Gala)
- 13th September - Transport Nostalgia Day
- 24th and 25th October - Steam &
Vintage Rally
