The first day of 2009
is the last day of 2008 for the GWR as this is the final operating
day of the season. Trains are running from Toddington to
Gotherington (Cheltenham Racecourse station is closed due to the
landslip) and whether your fancy is steam or diesel, you can enjoy
both on every train! This is because each train is 'top and tailed'
by a locomotive at each end. Taking the train from Toddington
to Gotherington is David Shepherd's magnificent 9F class locomotive
no. 92203 Black Prince while one of the GWR's superb fleet of
diesel locomotives will bring the train back from
Gotherington. Free tea and coffee are available to all ticket
holders on the trains.
Departures from
Toddington are 10.30; 12.15; 14.30 and 16.15.
After 1st January, the
railway closes for its annual maintenance programme until March
2009.
May we wish all readers
of this website a very happy New Year.
