22nd April marked the 25th anniversary of the first train to run
on the GWR - a single carriage hauled by diminutive tank locomotive
Cadbury No. 1. But where is the engine now? Well, shortly it will
be returning to the GWR for the 25th Anniversary Festival of Steam
(23-26 May) when it will be on static display, repainted in its
distinctive red-brown livery with gold leaf graphics on the tank
sides. For the story of this lovely little locomotive and its first
operating days on the GWR, visit our
